Position Function
This is a supervisory position in which the incumbent is responsible for the supervision/coordination of all facilities related activities, including housekeeping and laundry services.  The Housekeeper supervises cleaning contractors, facilities management service and/or subcontractors and administrative support functions.  The Housekeeper maintains working relationships with subordinate staff, department heads, contractors and public agencies.  The incumbent reports to and receives direction/supervision from the Clubhouse Maintenance Manager and the General Manager.

Major Duties
1. Develop standards for the proper care of buildings, furnishings and equipment. Prepare work schedules for employees, ensuring equal distribution of workload. Allow adequate time for work to be completed and provide flexibility so that unusually heavy activities in one area or another can be accommodated.

2. Prepare and implement training plans for instructing new employees in the housekeeping department.

3. Advise employees about their on the job performance. Discuss grievances, suggestions and complaints. Recommend appropriate action.

4. On a regular basis inspect the work of the housekeeping staff and check to see that the desired standards are being maintained. Demonstrate proper methods of cleaning different surfaces, as well as preferred procedures for waxing, sweeping, dusting, window washing and care of locker room facilities.

5. Responsible for the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment as well as linen and towels. Order or requisition the necessary supplies and equipment and verify orders received.

6. Oversees the repair and maintenance work orders based on housekeeping inspections.

7. Verifies the overall cleanliness of the entire operating facility.

8. Performs related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of building housekeeping, cleaning and laundry procedures and management.  General knowledge of general office administration and other related support functions.  Skill in oral and written communications, ability to effectively coordinate
